Imphal, January 19 2021: The Kisan Kaafila has appealed to the people of the State, particularly farmers to support the ongoing farmers' protest being staged at the borders of Delhi against the three Farm Laws enacted by the Central Government.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Kisaan Kaafila member Majinder Singh Randhawa who came all the way from Punjab said that the three Farm Laws viz; Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act seriously undermine farmers' interest and openly favour corporate houses.

Although the Government has been claiming that these legislations are for the welfare of farmers, they not only violate farmers' rights but also threaten the livelihood of farmers, Majinder Singh Randhawa alleged.

A large number of farmers coming from different parts of the country have been protesting against the Farm Laws since November last year at the borders of Delhi.

In the course of the sustained protest, around 60 farmers have died.

He then appealed to the people of Manipur, particularly farmers to support and participate the protest.

People of Manipur may stage protest demonstrations against the Farm Laws at Imphal even if they find it difficult to come to Delhi, he said.

Majinder Singh Randhawa said that Kisaan Kaafila is a group dedicated to the interest of farmers and its primary purpose is creating awareness among farmers on different issues.

Members of Kisaan Kaafila have been touring throughout the country in cars mobilising support for the farmers' protest currently going on at the borders of Delhi.

As part of the same campaign, a team of Kisaan Kaafila arrived here today.

Taking part in the same press meet, one Abhilash from Assam made a strong point against the three Farm Laws.

Farmers JAC Manipur co-convenor Chinglen Khumukcham was also present at the press meet.
