Grenade lobbed at Raj Bhavan

Imphal, January 19 2021: A hand grenade was hurled at the Raj Bhavan today, the official residence of the Governor but the grenade failed to go off.

Notably, the Raj Bhavan is guarded round the clock by CRPF.

Yet, some unidentified persons managed to lob a hand grenade at around 4.15 pm today and it landed just outside the South Eastern gate of the Raj Bhavan.

Even though the grenade did not explode, DGP LM Khaute and other high ranking police officers came and inspected the situation.

Later, a Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad took away the hand grenade and a case has been registered at City police station.

The Governor was inside the Raj Bhavan at the time of the grenade attack.

Notably, a car laden with IED and other explosives was driven inside the Raj Bhavan on September 18, 2009 .

Earlier on December 21, 2008, KCP-MC hurled and exploded a hand grenade at the Raj Bhavan.
