MUMBAI: A day after the state recorded just 52.6% turnout on the second day of the vaccination drive, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said that it was not correct to compare the turnout everyday as now the immunisation program would continue every week for four days.
He said that the low turnout was due to the problems with the Co-WIN app and there was also some hesitancy among healthcare workers for which the state government would launch an awareness campaign.
"We will be reaching out to all the 8 lakh healthcare workers registered for the first phase. This campaign will hopefully put all their doubts to rest," said Tope.
He said, "If frontline health workers undergo the vaccination pro-actively, it will send a strong positive message to the society and others will also take the vaccine in the near future without any fear, but since there is some hesitancy, the government will work on the communication and awareness campaign".
"The Co-WIN is also slow and still some modules of the application are not working seamlessly. We have raised our complaints with the Centre and those are being rectified. But because of the glitches, there is still some confusion," Tope added.
