Sozita Goudouna and Thalia Vrachopoulos
Presented in two parts, this virtual exhibition presents two perspectives on the exhibition’s theme. In Part 1, Sozita Goudouna features artworks that attempt to uncover the profound and complex sense of silence that characterizes the prison industrial complex and whether art and aesthetics can break this silence. Thalia Vrachopoulos presents an Asian perspective in Part 2, where she examines several traditions in Asia evinced in works by artists from Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan and Thailand as they pertain to both the 5th Amendment Right and more loosely interpreted as selected or imposed silence.
