Indices bullish ahead of Joe Biden's swearing-in; IT stocks outperformers of the day

With Joe Biden's swearing-in right at the doorstep, Asian markets mostly opened in the red, treading cautiously.

The domestic markets opened higher and are trading in the green ahead of the ceremony. At around 10:31 AM, BSE Sensex was hovering at 49,580 levels, up by 180 pts or 0.37%. 

Its contemporary NSE was trading at 14,583.35 pts up by 0.43% at around the same time.

The sectoral indices were also trading in the green on NSE, with the exception of Nifty Financial Services and Private Bank stocks,

The heavyweight bank stocks were trading 0.03% higher while Auto stocks were in focus surging by over 1.04%.

Nifty IT was the top performer gaining by over 2.5% pulling the benchmark hgiher along with itself.

Tata Motors emerged as the top gainer trading 3.89% higher, with Wipro (+3.78%), Tech Mahindra (+2.49%), Eicher Motors (+2.27%) and HCL Tech (+2.22%) following lead.

While Grasim down by 1.50%, Shree Cem (-1.43%), NTPC (-1.20%), Coal India (-0.82%) and ITC (-0.78%) were the top losers.
