Two health workers fall sick after receiving Covid-19 vaccine in Tripura

Agartala, Jan 20 (UNI) Two health workers were admitted to Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) today when they fell ill after taking Covid-19 vaccine. Their condition is stable, doctors attending them have said.
According to reports, the first case, a multipurpose health worker Himadri Debroy (45), working at Udaipur district hospital in Gomati, yesterday developed fever, cough and breathing complaints a few hours after receiving Covishield.
The doctors diagnosed some problem in his lungs and shifted him to AGMC.
The second case was detected in the capital city where an Asha trainer identified as Sanchita Daschoudhury (42) developed fever, cough and respiratory problems after vaccination yesterday.
She was shifted to AGMC where doctors claimed that her symptoms are very common to post-vaccination signs.
“Both the patients are stable. It could not be ascertained yet whether they developed any adverse side effects followed by Covid-19 immunisation. Both of them have a history of pulmonary diseases, and fever and cough in this season are very common. We believe it’s a coincidence that they fell sick after vaccination and not something that was caused by the vaccine,” said a senior doctor of AGMC.
According to reports, Tripura has vaccinated over 1500 health workers in the last four days out of the listed 45,240 in the first phase.
The authorities will vaccinate health workers in AGMC on Thursday from morning till evening to build up confidence among the people.
