Andhra Pradesh releases feasibility report for solar project sites under RE export policy

Andhra Pradesh has released feasibility reports of five project sites for setting up of ultra-mega solar power parks under its renewable energy export policy announced in July last year.

It had identified seven such sites with a total capacity of 17,800 megawatt (MW) under its new policy. These were at Kadiri, Obuladevucheruvu (ODC), Ralla Anantapur, Badvel, Kalasapadu, Owk, and Kolimigundla.

Out of these, project reports have been released for installation of large-scale solar parks having 4,000 MW capacity at Kadiri, 2,400 MW each at ODC and Ralla Anantapur, 1,400 MW at Badvel, and 2,000 MW at Kalasapadu.

According to the reports, the Kadiri project would be set-up on about 20,000 acres of land, about 10,000 acres for Kalasapadu project, 7,000 acres for Badvel, and 12,000 acres each for Ralla Anantapur and ODC project sites.

Assuming the state government sets up seven ultra mega solar plants with 17,800 MW capacity under the policy, it would require an investment of about Rs 80,000 crore at the rate of Rs 4.5 crore per megawatt.
