After having to postpone their special day due to COVID-19, Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal will tie the knot this month. Catch up on all the information on their wedding
After much anticipation around their big day—and a few delays— childhood sweethearts Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal's wedding date has finally been set. Originally planned as a five-day celebration for December 2019, the wedding will now take place on January 24, and will be a much more intimate one-day affair, according to Mid Day, keeping in mind all the safety measures that come with hosting a get-together in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple's decision to shorten the celebrations may also be due to the fact that Dhawan's father, David Dhawan, is diabetic and suffered a heart attack in 2013. The main wedding ceremony, which will reportedly be held at a beach resort at Alibaug, will include daytime pheras, followed by a casual reception in the evening.
According to a recent report, a guest also shared a brief outline of Dhawan and Dalal's plans for their special weekend. The guests—a total of 50 invitees—are scheduled to hop on board private yachts from the Gateway of India to Mandwa Jetty, from where they will be transferred to private cars that will take them to the wedding venue.
“The wedding will see only the families and the couple's school friends in attendance. Last week, the families sent e-invites for the reception,” the source elaborated, and also revealed that the guest list includes the likes of Karan Johar, who launched Varun Dhawan back in 2012 with Student of the Year, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan, adding that Shah Rukh will likely not be attending the wedding owing to his ongoing shoot for Siddharth Anand's Pathan. In addition, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Raj Kundra, Shashank Khaitan, Vashu Bhagnani, and Remo D'Souza are also said to have been invited.
Despite keeping his relationship with Natasha Dalal private for the most part, Dhawan has gone on record on few occasions to talk about his love life in the past. During an interview on Koffee with Karan, the actor said, "I’m with [Natasha] because she has her own individuality, she has her own voice which is super strong, with things she wants to do and things she wants to achieve in life. And, as her partner, that is something I want to support. And, she has been so supportive where my career is concerned, always, from day one actually." In fact, the star had started referring to Dalal as his fiancée even before the official engagement ceremony took place, as we witnessed in another chat with Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Work-wise, we can expect to see the actor in the upcoming romantic drama Jug Jugg Jeeyo opposite Kiara Advani, as well as Shashank Khaitan's Ranbhoomi.
