Maserati has spruced up its Levante and Ghibli lineups for 2021 with the introduction of two new trim levels, Sportivo and Sportivo X, which gain more kit and a few exclusive features. Sitting atop the existing Granlusso and Gransport grades, the Sportivo trims come in a choice of three variant-specific colours - Grigio Maratea, Blu Emozione and Nero Ribelle - and a list price that makes them a better deal than opting for a lower grade car and optioning it up to the equivalent spec. Sounds familiar, right?
In the case of the Levante, Sportivo is available with the V6 petrol car, alongside the Ghibli hybrid. For the SUV, Sportivo brings 20-inch Efesto alloys, red brake calipers and a panoramic sunroof, while the cabin receives black leather upholstery with matching black stitching, aluminium flappy paddles and 12-way power and heated front sport seats. In the Ghibli, there are 20-inch Urano alloys and a black styling pack for the exterior, with the same upgrades inside.
Alternatively, the Sportivo X gets 21-inch matte black Anteo wheels and Maserati's Nerissimo pack as standard, which swaps chrome for black exterior trim and darkens the exhaust tips, to create the most purposeful Levante finish this side of the full-blown Trofeo. There are also full-LED matrix headlights, while inside, the aforementioned Sportivo spec is upgraded with even posher leathers, soft close doors and stainless steel pedals. The driver assistance features are also expanded to include more features, including active cruise and a surround view camera.
As for the plug-in Ghiblis finished in Sportivo X guise, there's active damping, full-LED matrix headlights and another 21-inch rim, this time in a Titano forged design. The interior receives ventilated and heated front seats, red contrasting stitching against the leathers and wireless phone charging, as well as soft close doors and the same brushed stainless pedals. Both the Ghibli and Levante come as standard in all trims Maserati's latest MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) infotainment system. Think Apple Carplay, as well as an Alexa system that can communicate with your home devices.
Orders are being taken for all four new variants, with the Levante Sportivo starting at £69,975 and Sportivo X at £80,800. The Ghibli Hybrid Sportivo opens from £64,200, while the Sportivo X costs from £72,950. If you prefer your pricing in PCP form, Maserati will charge from £640 per month after an £7,680 initial rental payment (including VAT but excluding maintenance costs), for a 48-month, 5,000 miles per annum contract.
