DMRC organises online programme for promotion of ethical work culture

DMRC organises online programme for promotion of ethical work culture

New Delhi, Jan 19 (UNI) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in association with the IC Centre for Governance (ICCfG), on Tuesday started a three-day online programme, oriented towards the inculcation of an ethical work culture among employees.

Central Vigilance Commissioner Sanjay Kothari graced the inaugural session as the chief guest.

In his address, he stressed on the importance of training for employees in the public sector, as a tool for preventive vigilance.

Mr Kothari also said that DMRC was an 'Institute of Excellence' with best practices in terms of an ethical work culture.

DMRC's Managing Director Mangu Singh, in his address, spoke about the importance the DMRC lays on maintaining punctuality.

In the past 20 years, DMRC has constructed a network of close to 400 km. Delhi Metro is running about 5,000 trips everyday, maintaining a punctuality of 99.9 per cent.

The punctuality is measured in terms of seconds. If a train reaches later than 59 seconds, it is considered late, he said.

The programme, titled 'Towards an Ethical Work Culture,' will continue till January 21 and cover various subjects, such as ethical dilemmas and strategies to overcome, customer focus, inclusive leadership and preventive vigilance. The programme is being attended by DMRC officers from various departments.

ICCfG is an International Non-Profit Civil Society organisation, which is engaged in looking at important issues of Governance in the country.

The organisation comprises very senior retired civil servants, bankers, professors, managers and trainers.

They work to promote ethics in public governance at all levels of the government and public sector undertakings, so that a new breed of highly ethical executives and managers are produced, who will work towards the upliftment of citizens of the country through good governance and building policy capacity.
