NEW DELHI: Two men have been arrested for allegedly killing a rickshawpuller and stealing his money and vehicle in east Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave. Police said one of the accused has five cases of theft registered against him.
The accused have been identified as Chhotan Singh (24) and his friend Dilip Haldar (20), who is a historysheeter. The rickshawpuller, Jiban Mazumdar, was known to Singh who had roped in Haldar for the murder. Police said Mazumdar’s body was found lying in bushes in Vasundhara Enclave with his throat slit.
DCP (East) Deepak Yadav said the teams used social media to circulate the man’s picture to identify him. “Finally, on Saturday, we managed to identify the deceased as Mazumdar. Since his belongings were missing, it looked like a robbery,” he said.
The cops deployed managed to zero in on Singh, who was last spotted with the victim. “Singh confessed to the murder and led us to Haldar,” Yadav said.
