With the PlayStation 5 India release date of February 2, 2021, it turns out that more games are joining the console’s India launch line up on disc. Indian retailer Games The Shop has listed PS5 versions of Immortals: Fenyx Rising and Just Dance 2021 for pre-order for Rs. 3,999 and Rs. 3,999 respectively. Both games will be available on February 2.
It’s heartening to see publisher Ubisoft take a differentiated stance on pricing with Rs. 3,499 being on par with what most games cost during the PS4 era. Comparatively high-profile titles from the company like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion sport a Rs. 3,999 price tag. Though it’ll be interesting to see how many purchase Just Dance 2021 at its lower price.
Last year some video game publishers like Take Two and Sony bumped their PS5 game prices to Rs. 4,599 and Rs. 4,999 respectively while the likes of Activision have refused to bring big budget releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to the country on disc, resulting in parallel imports from independent stores to fill the void albeit at a higher Rs. 5,499 price.
Earlier in the month, IGN India reported that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition for PS5 is skipping the console’s India launch, thanks to ample third-party support though it seems that would be PS5 owners have a lot to look forward to. These additions result in a total of 13 titles for February 2, 2021 at retail.
