Three-day Rajarani Music Festival begins in the city

The three-day annual Rajarani Music Festival began last evening with soulful renditions of Indian classical music at the 11th century Rajarani temple premise. The nip in the evening temperature along with the beautifully groomed lawn, hanging Pipili applique lamps from the trees and the temple with its architectural beauty on the backdrop, create a mesmerising atmosphere for your senses to go on a musical journey.

The opening performance was Carnatic vocal by Buidushi Sudha Raghuraman from New Delhi. This performance left the august gathering spellbound. It was followed by Indian fusion band. Maestro Bickram Ghosh’s Rhythmscape added charm to the evening.
Classical music lovers would get to witness Odissi vocal by Guru Ramahari Das and his group from the city followed by Mumbai-based music maestro Pt Purbayan Chaterjee’s sitar play on the second evening. On the concluding evening the festival will present Odissi Mardal by Guru Satchidananda Das and group from Bhubaneswar and Hindustani vocal by Pt Venkatesh Kumar and his troupe from Karnatak. For connoisseurs of classical music, these three days would be the best of times in the city.
"This music festival is awesome. Despite the cold weather, we were lost in the classical music and the atmosphere here is so soothing. We, normally, don't get to witness such high class classical music. I'll come here every evening of the festival," said Purusottam, a music lover.
