Jaipur, Jan 19 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday condoled the death of migrant labourers from the state's Banswara district in a road accident in Gujrat's Surat and announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to the next of kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
Taking to micro-blogging site twitter, Mr Gehlot said deeply saddened to know about death of migrant labourers from Banswara. My heartfelt condolences to the family of deceased and prayers for speedy recovery of the injured.
The tragedy is heart-wrenching and the state government will be providing Rs 2 lakh compensation to the family of deceased and Rs 50,000 to those injured, he added.
Senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said the tragedy which claimed more than a dozen lives is heart-wrenching.
Ms Raje prayed to the God to give courage to the families of the deceased to bear the irreparable loss.
She prayed to the almighty for peace to the departed soul and speedy recovery of the injured.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and BJP state president Satish Punia also expressed grief over the incident.
At least 15 people, who were sleeping on a footpath were crushed to death by a dumper in the Kosamba area in Surat on Monday night.
