Boney Kapoor announces daughter Khushi Kapoor's Bollywood debut: “I would want Khushi to find her own footing”

After Janhvi Kapoor's roaring success with projects like Dhadak (2018) and Ghost Stories (2020), younger sister Khushi Kapoor is now all set to display her acting chops on the silver screen. The sibling duo's father, producer Boney Kapoor recently confirmed that the public will "hear an announcement soon" and also added that he will not be the one launching her. 

Boney Kapoor, who also launched his own brother Sanjay Kapoor with the 1995 movie Prem, recently opened up about his plans for his youngest daughter's debut in an interview with Bombay Times, saying, “I have the resources, but I would rather have someone else launch her because I am her father and one tends to get indulgent. You can’t afford to do that as a filmmaker, and nor is it good for the actor." He also dropped subtle hints about who Khushi may join Bollywood under, saying, "I would want Khushi to find her own footing. She will be launched by someone I respect and someone I feel secure and safe about."

Khushi Kapoor's interest in acting is quite evident from the course she recently pursued at the New York Film Academy, just like young star Alaya F, who also happens to be an alumnus of the school. Moreover, in a conversation with Neha Dhupia on her talk show BFFs with Vogue Season 3, the to-be-actor also opened up about her dream debut director—Karan Johar—but also mentioned that it would ultimately be her father who decides who she will share the screen with. 

Despite staying away from the shutterbugs for the most part, Khushi Kapoor has been a topic of interest among Bollywood enthusiasts for a while now, so it stands to reason that her debut will be a moment of much excitement not just for movie buffs, but also for fans of the budding star's late mother, Sridevi, who is among the Indian film industry's most respected icons.
