Lucknow: 81 new Covid cases surface, two succumb

LUCKNOW: The number of new Covid-19 infections dropped further in the city on Monday, but continued to be highest in the state.
According to the state Covid bulletin, 81 people tested positive for novel coronavirus infection in Lucknow, which was 11 less than Sunday’s tally, but accounted for 21% of the total 379 cases in the state in the past 24 hours.
Similarly, out of four deaths due to the disease in the state on Monday, two were from the state capital. There was no casualty on Sunday though.
Death toll is at 1,156, which is 1.4% of the total cases (80,782) recorded since the outbreak in March.
As many as 115 patients also recovered on Monday, taking the overall recoveries so far to 77,581, over 96% of the caseload.
The city, however, still has 2,045 patients, of which 883 are in home isolation and the rest in hospital.
On Monday, Chowk recorded nine cases, Alambagh, Rae Bareli Road and Madiaon seven each and Indiranagar, Gomtinagar and Chinhat six each.
