Jeni's releases special ice cream flavor for Biden inauguration
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is releasing a special flavor in honor of President-elect Joe Biden, a big fan of the locally made ice cream.
According to Jeni’s website, the White House Chocolate Chip flavor consists of vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate-covered waffle cone pieces and chocolate flakes, mimicking Biden’s favorite flavor: chocolate chip in a waffle cone.
Jeni's is hardly the only company to release special products before the inauguration Wednesday, but the next president of the United States has a history with the central Ohio ice cream brand.
Late last year, the food news site Eater reported that Biden’s campaign spent $10,000 on Jeni’s ice cream. (The expense failed to help Biden carry Ohio.)
Before a presidential debate in September, Biden posted on Instagram a picture of a pint of Jeni’s ice cream (salted peanut butter with chocolate flakes), which Biden jokingly labeled a “performance enhancer.”
The post was a response to soon-to-be-former President Donald Trump’s baseless claim that Biden improved his debate performance with drugs.
