On December 18, Apple released an update for AirPods Max and since then, a number of users have reported battery issues.
The problem manifests itself in that the battery goes from 100 to 0 or 1 percent in just a few hours, in some cases this behaviour is seen even when the headphones are placed in the AirPods Max charging case.
For some users a forced restart or factory reset makes the problem go away, but for others it makes no difference.
According to 9to5Mac, it seems that it is primarily users who switch between different devices that have been affected by the problem. In other words, a temporary solution may be to only use the over-ear AirPods with your iPhone.
Hopefully the problem will be fixed in the next software update, otherwise it may be time to use the warranty.
There have been a number of reports about problems with the AirPods Max. For example: AirPods Max 'suffer from condensation' - reports.
