Himachal Pradesh panchayat elections: Around 18.20% polling recorded till 10am

SHIMLA: In the second phase of elections for the panchayati raj institutions in Himachal Pradesh, 18.20% polling was recorded till 10am on Tuesday.
Voting is under way for 1,208 panchayats to elect Ward Members, Up-Pradhans, Pradhans, Panchayat Samiti members and Zila parishad members.
In the first phase of elections held on Sunday, 80% polling was recorded and polling is likely to remain high in the second phase.
Bilaspur district has recorded 18.90% polling, Chamba district 16.90%, Hamirpur district 17.20%, Kangra district 16.50%, Kinnaur district 15%, Kullu district 19.20%, Mandi district 18.70%, Shimla district 17.70%, Sirmaur district 21%, Solan district 20.80% and Una district 19%.
Voting started at 8am and will be concluded at 4pm while for Covid-19 positive patients polling will be conducted from 4pm to 5pm. Results for the posts of ward members, pradhans and up-pradhans will be declared immediately after the polling is concluded while for Zila parishad member and Panchayat Samiti member, counting of votes will take place on January 22.
