Markets Lose Over 1%, Nifty Below 14300 Levels; RIL Gains 2 Percent

Markets after falling extensively by over 400 points pared some losses in the later part of trade and at closing were down by by 470 points on the Sensex and 152 points down on the Nifty at 14281.The broader markets were the worst loosers in day today with losses of over 2 percent on the Nifty Mid cap 100 index.

Major gainers in trade today have been UPL, Reliance, HDFC Bank, ITC and Titan company, while losers in the session include Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Hindalco, ONGC and Sun Pharma.

HDFC Bank after its Q3 results hit its fresh high on reporting 18% jump in its profit figure on a year on year basis.

Reliance Industries gains over 2.47% and recorded day's high price of Rs. 1997 per share as the oil to telecom conglomerate decides to embed Jiomart site on the Whatsapp site.

Also, the Delhi HC has directed the beleaguered PMC Bank to consider fresh application of depositors for emergency use. DHFL shares hit 5% upper circuit after the voting finally was in favour of Ajay Piramal.

Oil prices after jumping to 11-month high in the previous week as demand again is being questioned on rising coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, European indices traded with losses on all the indices and US stock futures also point to a weak opening for the markets there.
