Google Play Store will show trending and non-trending apps

Internet search giant Google has started showing the trends among apps listed on Play Store, claims a report by Phonearena.
As per the report, the company has started denoting this via a new icon of an arrow moving up or moving down denoting whether an app is trending up or down.
These trends can be seen in the ‘Top Charts’ section of the Play Store, as per the report.

Even with these trends, two things remain unanswered about the behaviour of the apps. First is how many slots the app has either moved up or down the charts and secondly the time frame since when the app has started trending up or down.
Recently, a report by Sensor Tower claimed that 2020 was a record-setting year for both mobile games and non-game apps, and consumer spending on Google Play Store with the global spending hitting $38.6 billion. In comparison, the spending in 2019 on Google Play Store stood at $29.7 billion.
The report also added that the consumer spending on the Google Play store increased by 30% year-over-year and the highest-earning category turned out to be social, climbing 71.4% year-over-year to $1.2 billion last year from $700 million in 2019.
