Covid 19 Vaccine India update: Covid-19 vaccination in India enters the third day and so far 2.24 lakh individuals have been administered Coronavirus vaccines Covidshield and Covaxin against the highly contagious disease. All states and Union Territories (UTs) won’t hold Covid-19 vaccination today as the Central government has advised them to plan COVID19 vaccination sessions four days a week. Out of the 2.24 lakh Covid-19 vaccine receivers, a total of 447 Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) have been reported on January 16 and January 17. Of these AEFIs, three individuals required hospitalisation.

The Day 2 of Covid 19 vaccination in India witnessed 17,072 beneficiaries being vaccinated in six states. These states are Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, and Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has decided to resume the vaccination drive for Covid-19 in the state from tomorrow. The state could not begin the vaccination drive on Saturday after technical glitches were reported in the application of Co-WIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network) application that has been designed to keep a digital record of the people who have been vaccinated.

While his family is blaming the death on vaccination, the authorities said that he suffered from cardiac disease, according to a report by PTI.     Telangana: Vaccination underway in 324 sites

    The Covid-19 vaccination drive is underway on the second day in Telangana with the state government making arrangements in 324 centres for the inoculation. Officials said people will be administered Serum Institute's Covishield on Day 2 of the drive also as Biotech's Covaxin is yet to be dispatched to the centres.

    Bengal: CoWIN glitches reported from several sites

    The Covid-19 vaccination drive resumed on Monday at 207 sites in West Bengal for mostly frontline workers. However, glitches in the CoWIN portal were reported from several sites impacting the vaccination drive. After which health officials chose to manually complete the process of documentation and allocation.

    The Odisha government is planning to increase the number of people getting COVID-19 jabs under the nationwide vaccination drive. For this, the state government has formulated a strategy, according to an official in the know as reported by PTI.     Covid vaccination drive in Delhi: More healthcare workers get vaccines

    After administering the Covid-19 vaccine to over 4,300 healthcare workers on the opening day, the Delhi government has started to give vaccines to more medical staff at various hospitals on Monday. Officials said that the vaccination drive started at the Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital at 10 am.     What is Adverse Event Following Immunization? 

    An Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) is any unexpected medical occurrence that follows immunization that may not be related to the vaccine or vaccination process. Protocols are in place for reporting, immediate case management at vaccination session site, transportation and hospitalization, and further care of such cases. Protocols are also in place for systematic investigation and causality assessment of serious AEFIs.

    Covid 19 vaccine side effects: 3 cases of Adverse effects in India

    Three individuals were hospitalized after receiving Covid-19 vaccines. Of these, one has been discharged from Northern Railway Hospital Delhi, one has been discharged from AIIMS Delhi. However, one was under observation in AIIMS Rishikesh, the Union Health Ministry stated.

    Meanwhile, on Sunday, a meeting was held between the Central government and all states and UTs for review of progress, identification of bottle-necks, and to plan corrective actions as the vaccination program moves ahead.
