FCC opens consultation on best use of 12.2-12.7 GHz band

The FCC is inviting comments on how it should maximize the efficient user of the 500 MHz of midband spectrum in the 12.2-12.7 GHz band. In particular, the commission wants comments on whether terrestrial mobile wireless service could coexist with existing operations in the band without causing harmful interference to existing licensees. The ultimate idea is to make more spectrum available for future services such as 5G.
