Gurgaon: The
health department on Sunday said 65% of those who were inoculated on the first day of the
vaccination drive in Gurgaon were
women healthcare
workers.
“We started a bit late on the first day and also witnessed a low turnout, but our teams were able to achieve the target,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
Out of the 608 recipients, 396 were women and 212 men, which means that for every three recipients, nearly two were women. In the ‘below 30 years’ category, 34 were men and 31 were women. Also, 118 men and 320 women were in the 30 to 50 age-group. As per the data, 60 men and 45 women healthcare workers were above the 50 years age-group.
The vaccination took place in six centres, including Wazirabad, Bhangrola, Daultabad, Medanta-The medicity, Chauma and SGT medical college.
Yadav said as majority of the healthcare workers, who were selected by the Co-WIN app, were ASHA , ANM and aganwadi employees — all of them women workers.
He added that many of them did not turn up despite their names being on the list. “These people will be included in the four-week drive. Our teams are in touch with them to understand why they did not show up on the first day,” he added.
