IPL 2021 Auction – Only 3 days left for CSK, MI, DC, RCB, KKR, RR, KXIP and SRH to make big decisions on who to retain, who to release from the teams before IPL 2021 Auctions in February: Ahead of the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 the board on Friday wrote to IPL franchises to finalize all their retentions by 20th Jan – so that announcements can be made on 21st January. InsideSport meanwhile would like to clarify that though the IPL 2021 Mini Auctions are likely to held on 11th Feb – IPL Governing Council is yet to confirm the dates.

Chennai Super Kings (Remaining Purse-  Rs 0.15 crore) – CSK wants to revamp their team as earlier announced by MS Dhoni. The only option CSK has at its disposal is to release the current players to increase the size of their wallet. Then only CSK will be able to buy the players in the auction. They have the lowest remaining purse among all the franchises i.e just 15 Lacs. Be ready for lot of chopping and changing in the CSK squad.
Mumbai Indians (Remaining Purse; 1.95 crores) – 5 times champions Mumbai Indians is sitting very pretty at this stage with very well settled squad. No big chopping, changing is required – so no stress on the size of current wallet i.e 1.95 Cr.
Royal Channel Bangalore (Remaining Purse: Rs 6.4 crores) – Some players like Dale Steyn, Parthiv Patel have already pulled out of IPL 2021 so RCB will have a bigger wallet available with them for the IPL Auctions. They may further release few names like Umesh Yadav to increase the money in the wallet.
Kolkata Knight Riders (Remaining Purse: Rs. 8.5 crores) – KKR have some big salaried players in their squad. Cummins, Russell, Narine, Karthik, Kuldeep Yadav all have huge salaries – KKR may drop few of them to increase the purse size. InsideSport has already reported likelihood of Dinesh Karthik and Kuldeep Yadav losing on IPL contracts.

Kings XI Punjab  (Remaining Purse: Rs. 16.5 crores) – Like KKR, KXIP also has some big salaried foreign recruits like Glenn Maxwell. KXIP is likely to release Maxwell and few others to bring more monies into their wallet so that they can buy players of choice during the auctions.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (Remaining Purse: Rs. 10.1 crores) – SRH also needs to boost up their squad from few angles to get ready for IPL 2021. They currently have 10.1 Cr remaining in player purse and may release few big guns to enhance the wallet to minimum 20-25 Cr.
Rajasthan Royals (Remaining Purse: 14.75 crores) – RR after a promising start to IPL 2020 finished at No.8th place. The new investors of RR are likely to take some hard calls by ending relationship with few big names like Steve Smith. RR is eyeing wallet size of 25Cr to do the fresh buying.
Delhi Capitals (Remaining Purse: 9 crores) Like Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals is not in a desperate need to chop and change the squad. The runners up of IPL 2020 will sit easy and are unlikely to be very active in IPL Mini Auctions.
