Hyderabad: Angered over his son not studying properly, a man in an inebriated condition set ablaze his 10-year-old son in KPHB here late on Sunday.

Police said the man Balu, working as a painter, came home drunk and started scolding Charan when the latter was watching television.

Charan, a class six student from a government school in Kukatpally, was then doused with turpentine oil and set ablaze by Balu.

Charan was immediately shifted to the Osmania General Hospital and is being treated for his burn injuries. His condition is said to be critical.

The KPHB police are investigating.
