Man dies after suffering injuries during jallikattu held in Pudukottai illegally

TRICHY: A 42-year-old man, who suffered injuries during a jallikattu event that was held illegally, died on Sunday morning in Pudukottai.
The deceased has been identified as K Ponnusamy, 42, from Sangirapatti village in Illupur taluk. The jallikattu took place at Pidariamman temple thidal in the village on January 14.
According to Illupur deputy superintendent of police Arulmozhi Arasu, Ponnusamy was a spectator, who came to watch the event.
While he was trying to escape a bull that was approaching towards him in the crowd, he was pushed down by another raging bull, he said.
Ponnusamy suffered injuries in his head and was rushed to Pudukottai government hospital for treatment.
After three days of treatment, Ponnusamy died in the hospital on Sunday.
A case was registered by Illupur police against five persons under section 143 (unlawful assembly), 336 (endangering human life), 337 (negligence), 429 (causing hurt to animals) of the IPC and further investigation is on.
