Hyderabad: Indian opener Rohit Sharma was the centre of debate after he threw his wicket in the first innings of the series-deciding fourth Test in Brisbane. He was well set on 44 but went for an expensive drive off Nathan Lyon only to be caught by Mitchell Starc.
He attracted severe criticism from former greats including the likes of Sunil Gavaskar. Former India wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta also said he was baffled by the way Rohit threw his wicket. Speaking in a video on the YouTube channel ‘Sports Today, he said, “Only Rohit Sharma can explain why that shot? He has the temperament because he has scored big in India. Maybe in overseas conditions, he hasn’t scored big. This is frustrating.”
“This is again Rohit way back in 2010-11 where you could see the talent, you could see the potential. It would frustrate you because that potential talent could not be converted,” he added.
