Sit-in protest continues

Thoubal, January 16 2021: Expressing the need for a retrial at a higher Court following the recent acquittal of former ADC Chairman, Lhukhosei Zou who was arrested on the charge of drug smuggling, Ningol Club and Heirok Part-I Mamang Leikai Meira Paibi jointly organised a sit-in protest at Heirok Part-I Mamang Leikai Waiting shed in Thoubal district, today.

Addressing the gathering, Sintha Laishram, Secretary general of CADA Thoubal District Committee stated that the calls for re-investigation of the case from various sections are very reasonable.

Sintha Laishram also mentioned that the people of the State are highly disappointed with the conviction of the driver and helper instead of Lhukhosei Zou former Chandel ADC who was arrested with drugs worth crores from his quarters.

Slogans including 'do not demean war on drugs', 'award befitting punishments to drug smugglers' etc were raised at the end of the protest.
