AFLW practice match called off after injury to Giants player

Sunday's AFLW practice match between Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney was called off early after a collision that led to Giants player Brid Stack being taken to hospital.

The game in Adelaide was in its dying minutes with the Crows leading by 20 points when Irishwoman Stack was met heavily. She was placed in a stretcher and taken from the field in an ambulance.

"Unfortunately Irish recruit Brid Stack has been taken to hospital following spinal precaution protocols after a collision in a tackle late in the fourth quarter. She's in the best possible care and we will provide a full update when we have further information," the Giants said on Twitter.

In Sunday's other scratch match, Collingwood defeated North Melbourne by 12 points at Ikon Park.
