Day 2 At Stumps, Score 320/4: Another dominant day for England who only had the weather to compete with, given that the Lankans were barely in the hunt after that wicket of Bairstow early in the day. Root’s proactive approach dented the hosts’ spinners while debutant Lawrence infused further impetus into the innings.
As the lead grew, you could sense that the Lankans had given up. With the England captain and the lead both moving towards a double-hundred, things look really bad for Sri Lanka with three days still left in the game. There is some more rain in the radar and the home side will be banking on that to escape from this game without a loss. As for England, we could see them up the ante a bit before declaring. Weather permitting of course.
