13 pictures that take you inside Alia Bhatt's millennial-friendly office space in Mumbai

Over the years, we've seen many Bollywood stars extend their skills from acting to directing and producing films. While industry stalwarts like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Anil Kapoor launched their own production houses years ago, the industry has also seen a fresh wave of leading ladies do the same, from Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures to Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Films and Deepika Padukone’s Ka Productions. In 2020, Alia Bhatt also jumped onto the bandwagon with her new production facility, Eternal Sunshine, named after one of her favourite films, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004).

Along with the launch of Eternal Sunshine, Bhatt also had her hands full last year with projects like Gangubai Kathiawadi, Takht, and Brahmastra, all primed for 2021 releases, and her new sustainable kids wear label Ed-a-mamma. With all that on her plate, it comes as no surprise that the star decided to convert the floor adjoining her current Juhu apartment into a personal office space. 

The 2,800sqft home office, put together by interior designer Rupin Suchak (the production designer of Bhatt’s 2016 Dear Zindagi) is “an extension of my personality,” according to the actor. In an interview with IANS, the actor described her new workspace saying, “[Rupin] has made the place look more spacious, including a surprise element or two breaking monotony, yet giving it an overlay of serenity and cosiness." Suchak elaborated on the creative brief given to him by Bhatt in a chat with Vogue India, “She wanted to move away from the chaos (which she, of course, loves) and come back to a space which was her own—subtle, welcoming, warm, peaceful and cosy.” 

Combining contemporary and vintage elements, the star's office largely mirrors the aesthetic of her home, with its occasional pops of quirk, exposed white brick walls, and standout light fixtures. It's also everything you can expect from an actor's office, with a unique vanity section, gym and walk-in wardrobe. With its Mediterranean-style flooring, the entrance of Alia Bhatt's office spotlights a colourful, yet au naturel vibe. The corridor is championed by a sleek wooden bench topped off with printed cotton cushions, exposed brick walls, and oversized potted plants. A circular yellow plate showcases the Eternal Sunshine logo, and a vintage door featuring wrought iron work and Art Nouveau handles (especially casted for the main door with a grill) leads into the main meeting area.

Bhatt’s common area is a canvas of soothing pastel hues

Featuring the same flooring as the entrance, the meeting area—also the focal point of the star’s office—is both inviting and elegant. Millennial-friendly colours like blush pink, pale yellow and teal feature on the various armchairs and couches interspersed throughout the space. A long conference table sits in one corner, surrounded by a darker palette of chairs.

The room also contains two special corners for Bhatt’s extensive collection of awards. An all-white cabinet makes her gleaming trophies pop—her two Instagram India Awards, in particular, instantly catch the eye. Another shelf holds the many Filmfare Awards the star has accrued over the years.

Along with a meeting section, Alia Bhatt's office includes a space where she can get ready for meetings and events. A white carved wooden table sits in front of a baby-pink ergonomic chair here, infusing the room with a playful vibe that matches Bhatt's personality. A matching pale pink lantern hangs above the setting. The station also includes a circular mirror enveloped with makeup lights, a framed illustration, and a vintage camera tripod.

Step inside the actor’s English-inspired kitchen

With its bold red and white tiles and textured ivory cabinets, Bhatt’s office kitchen may just have you dreaming of classic English countryside homes. Fun fact: the tiles for this area were specially ordered from Spain by the designer, who calls it one of his favourite parts of the office. Look closely and you'll also spot two little cat figurines perched in one of the kitchen's corners, an apt choice considering Bhatt's love for her feline friends.

Vibrant sea blue flooring with floral patterns runs across the balcony space in Alia Bhatt's office. In one corner hangs a sleek wooden swing, framed by leafy potted plants, and the rustic setting is contrasted by the edgy light fixture that hangs above. The checkered floor-to-ceiling door on one end, and the window on the other, make this nook appear bright and airy—ideal for catching a quick work break or winding down after a long day.
