Mangaluru: Never let your guard down, deputy commissioner tells vaccine recipients

MANGALURU: The district administration has drawn up a plan to spread awareness on the vaccination drive. For this, those who have been vaccinated will be selected as the ambassadors to tell people that wearing masks is necessary even after vaccination.
The district has set up teams to monitor the side-effects in each centre and arrangements have also been made to shift beneficiaries in case of any emergency.
At a vaccination drive launching ceremony held at the Wenlock District Hospital, deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said that those from the healthcare sector, who will be vaccinated with Covishield in the first phase, should not be negligent now that they are vaccinated.
“Don’t let your guard down at any cost even though you have been vaccinated. All of you should be the ambassadors of healthcare and spread the message that one should continue to wear a mask even after getting vaccinated. The district administration will distribute badges to spread this awareness through those who have already been vaccinated. Those who are vaccinated should wear the badge compulsorily to create awareness that you are wearing a mask even after getting vaccinated. Meanwhile, the district administration will commence an exclusive campaign on Monday to insist people on wearing masks compulsorily,” he said.
Recalling that 732 people have already died in the district due to Covid-19, the DC said that the mask rule enforcement will be made stronger in cities and rural areas in the days to come..
District minister Kota Shrinivas Poojari and minister S Angara also urged people to continue wearing masks.
