Imphal, January 15 2021: A large number of Congress workers led by ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi marched from MPCC office towards Raj Bhavan in an attempt to submit a memorandum demanding Centre to withdraw the Farm Laws to Governor Najma Heptulla today.

Earlier, Congress workers including MPCC (Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee) general secretary Hareshwar Goswami, Mahila Congress president M Sarma and youth leader M Mahananda had reached the Raj Bhavan's at around 12.30 pm, however they were not allowed to meet the Governor and thus failed to submit their memorandum.

As they were denied a meeting with the Governor to submit the memorandum, more Congress workers led by CLP leader and ex-Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam and former Speaker Th Lokeshwor marched from the MPCC office towards Raj Bhavan.

When they reached near the Treasury Office, a large number of police personnel stopped them and a commotion ensued.

Thereafter, the Congress leaders returned to Congress Bhavan.

It may be noted that thousands of farmers across the country have been demanding the Centre to scrap the three Farm Laws.

The Supreme Court had also stayed the Farm Laws and set up a panel to resolve the impasse between the farmers and the BJP-led NDA Government.
