AHMEDABAD: A head constable of Navrangpura police was suspended after a video showing him slapping a woman over use of a mask went viral on Thursday.
Sources in the police said that the incident occurred on Thursday, when Navrangpura police held a man for not wearing mask.
“Police personnel made him sit in a vehicle and the two women accompanying him began protesting the police actions. When the two women were arguing with the cops, a head constable, identified as Vikramsinh Darbar, slapped one of the two women,” a cop said.
In the video, which went viral on Thursday, the cop was also seen filming the women arguing with him. When one of the two women screamed loudly, the cops slapped her and hit her on her head.
