Dense fog engulfs Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 16 (UNI) The National Capital on Saturday morning woke up to a thick blanket of fog that led to poor visibility in and around several parts of the capital.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 6.6 degrees Celsius. According to IMD forecast, the capital will witness foggy mornings for the next few days.

Fog disrupted rail operations as at least 24 trains coming to Delhi were running late. Apart from this, fog has also affected the flights. An airport official said that over 50 flights have been delayed due to low visibility.

According to System of Air Quality & Weather Forecasting & Research (SAFAR), Delhi’s overall air quality index (AQI) stands at 492, which comes under severe category.
