Bicycle rally demands case be taken to higher Court

Thoubal, January 15 2021: Expressing the need for a retrial at a higher Court following the recent acquittal of former ADC Chairman, Lhukhosei Zou who was arrested on the charge of drug smuggling, Ningol Club, Heirok organised a bicycle rally from Heirok Part-II Bazar in Thoubal district, today.

The Cycle rally which was set off by CADA Headquarter president Hijam Priyokumar from Heirok Part-II Bazar passed through Wangjing Bazar, Wangjing SK Leikai and Tekcham Leikai before returning to Heirok.

Addressing the event, Hijam Priyokumar stated that the bicycle rally was organised as a protest against drugs and not against any community or group.

Ningol Club Heirok president Sophia Khundongbam mentioned that the people of the State want that the 2018 drug haul case be taken to a higher Court.

She also expressed her anguish over the State Government's uninspiring response towards the democratic protests and agitation carried out across the State by different CSOs, Meira Paibi associations and other local clubs.

The bicycle rally was also attended by CADA vice president Dipanjit Ningjam and Manipur Students Association Delhi (MSAD) president Saikhom Chingkhei.
