Imphal, January 15 2021: Indian Army organised Know Your Army - Military Equipment Display in Imphal for the aspiring young students and parents on the eve of Army Day 2021 .

Army Day is celebrated every year to commemorate Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa, taking over as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on 15 January 1949, said a statement of PIB (Defence Wing) .

It continued that a variety of military equipment and weapons were displayed and an information kiosk was established to share all the information regarding enrolment in the Army.

A pipe band of the Army played the martial tunes to mark the occasion.

Soldiers interacted with the young children and youth to address their queries and curiosity about the Army, the statement added.

According to PIB (DW), approximately 200 students along with their parents, teachers and friends witnessed the display and a Suvigya Cell counter was set up to address the grievances of local veterans of Indian Armed Forces.

Indian Army unit at Tamei organised a host of events at Tamei to mark the 73rd Indian Army Day.

The celebration began with the CO of the Tamei Battalion thanking the local populace for joining the celebration.

Thereafter, the unit hosted a military equipment display to enhance awareness amongst the youth regarding the Indian Army.

The Battalion also invited a local band to perform during the event.

A film on the Indian Army was also screened.

44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 22 Sector Assam Rifles also commemorated the day by organising a grand function at District Headquarters, Tamenglong.

To salute to the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, a wreath-laying ceremony followed by a flag hoisting was organised.

Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, Tamenglong also paid their tribute to the fallen Indian Army.

Weapons and equipment were also displayed by the Battalion as a part of the function.

A movie on the role of Assam Rifles was also screened.

At the end of the celebrations, Commandant 44 Assam Rifles and DC, Tamenglong encouraged the citizens to contribute to Nation-building.
