Vaccination drive successful in Nizamabad

R&B Minister Prashanth Reddy inaugurating vaccination centre in Nizamabad GGH hospital on Saturday

Nizamabad: With the combined efforts of Union and State governments, the vaccination programme has become successful in Telangana State, said R&B Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Saturday. He was speaking after inaugurating the vaccination programme at Nizamabad GGH Hospital. Around 15,000 health workers and 8,000 police and revenue staff would be covered in all phases of vaccination, the Minister said.

The first vaccine shot in the district was administered to a hospital sanitary worker Ajay, who was later put in an observation room for 30 minutes. Nizamabad Urban MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta, MLCs Rajeshwar, Akula Lalith and Collector C Narayana Reddy were present.

Prashnath Reddy expressed gratitude to the scientists for successfully discovering a vaccine. He said during the first phase of vaccination, three crore frontline warriors would be covered. The Telangana government also welcomed the Union Government’s proposals for vaccinating the frontline warriors. The Minister said six vaccination centres were set up in Nizamabad district and from Monday 46 such centres would start functioning. Among them 42 were government PHC’s and four were private hospitals.

Mayor Neethu Kiran, Additional Collector Chandrashekhar, Municipal Commissioner Jeethesh V Patil, GGH Principle Dr Indira, GGH superintendent Dr Prathima Raj, DMHO Dr Sudershan and others were present.
