Gangtok, Jan 16 (UNI) Sikkim joined the rest of the nation in COVID 19 Vaccination run, here today.

With Chief Minister PS Tamang launching the life-saving drive, here following its launch in the national capital, has turned a healthy leaf in the medical history of Sikkim.

The First one to get inoculated is Dr Suresh Rasaily, (State Govt ) Nurses are also waiting for it. CM Tamang appreciated the biggest drive across India launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Virtually from Delhi. He has thanked Mr Modi and Union Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan.

Minister for Health Dr MK Sharma was also present at the event.

Health Workers are the ones getting Vaccinated in the First phase for which 12500 doses have been received. 100 persons per day would be inoculated in each centre, to begin within Gangtok and Gayzing ( West Sikkim). Subsequently, more centres would be operative.

'The Vaccine is an example of ‘Atam Nirbhar Bharat’, as it is made in the country. For the first phase Govt of India has provided the Vaccine free, if it does not continue for the 2nd phase, State will arrange to provide free. COVAXIN and Covidshield. The Vaccine has been manufactured scientifically, leaving no scope for doubts and rumours. This is anticipated to remove the sickness, economic problems and will reduce deaths' said Mr Tamang.

However, after conducting 60 Thousand Vaccination tests in the country,the process of practically using it has been started in all the States.
