Warangal: Stating that India developed Covid-19 vaccines with the proactive support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in Hyderabad, Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the government would ensure vaccination against Covid-19 to all the eligible people in the State.

He, however, warned that severe action would be taken against the ‘rumour mongers’ who make false campaigns on vaccination programme. He has launched the vaccination drive at MGM Hospital here on Saturday. While the first vaccine was administered to Siddaiah Chary, an employee (carpenter) at the MGM hospital, the second vaccine was given to Soni, an ASHA  worker.

Speaking to the media persons on the occasion, Dayakar Rao said, “Thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Covid vaccine has been made available to all the people of the country and the state today. People have been waiting for the last nine months for a vaccine to prevent the Covid-19. It is a matter of great pleasure that vaccines have been developed in our country,” he added.

“Coronavirus vaccination has been begun at 21 centres in erstwhile Warangal district on Saturday. Vaccinations are being given free of cost to six centres in Warangal Urban district, six in Warangal Rural district, two in Jangama district, four in Mahabubabad district, two in Mulugu and three in Bhupalpally district,” Rao said and added that a total of 46,579 people were infected by Corona, while 45,768 of them had recovered in the district.

According to Warangal Urban District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr K Lalitha Devi, a total of 130 frontline warriors including doctors, medical staff, and Asha workers have been given the vaccine.

Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao,  MLC Kadiam Srihari, District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanmantu, Warangal East MLA N Narender and other officials were present at the launch of the vaccination drive at MGMH.
