In a time of uncertainty and social distancing, I think the Salt Lake City Board of Education made the right decision to do remote learning this school year. They made an executive decision to keep the Salt Lake City students and staff safe especially when COVID-19 cases were rising. I thought that this was a wonderful decision to help reduce the number of possible cases that could have happened if we were sent to in-person learning. By starting off with remote classes we did not have to go through the struggle of changing all the in-person classes into online classes. Even though we are online, the school district is making sure everyone has access to the internet and has the correct supplies to do online school. Making sure all the students can do their schoolwork and attend their classes.
Even though the Salt Lake City Board of Education made a good decision at the beginning of the school year to keep students online, I do not necessarily agree with their new decision on students returning to school by determining it on when teachers get their COVID-19 vaccines. I believe that students should be sent back to school once COVID-19 cases drop significantly and there are not a lot of new COVID-19 cases.
