GORAKHPUR: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered khichdi to Baba Gorakhnath in Brahma Muhurta at 4am in Gorakhnath temple on Thursday and wished happy Makar Sankranti to all. He also appealed to people to follow Covid protocol during celebrations.
“This is a festival of worshiping the Sun god besides being an occasion of happiness and enthusiasm for the farmers. It is a festival when farmers offer their crop produces after a lot of hard work to their god,” CM Yogi said.
“Khichdi is very digestible food and works like a medicine when the digestive system gets affected by the cold wave. Makar Sankranti is a very auspicious day in Sanatan Dharma and all good things start with it. This Makar Sankrati has also brought good news and Covid-19 vaccination will start from January 16. India has two vaccines, which is appreciable. “ The chief minister appealed to all the people to follow Covid protocol during Makar Sankranti celebrations. “It is a festival of joy but we should not forget ‘Do gaz doori, mask hai zaroori’ during celebrations. Vaccines are ready, but all of us still have to follow necessary precautions. There were 68,000 active Covid cases in the state two months ago, but they have come down to 10,000 now.”
“India has two Covid vaccines and vaccination will begin from January 16, but we should not stop following Covid protocol,” the chief minister added.
