Australia competition body considers legal action after Google completes Fitbit deal

Australia's competition watchdog ACCC may take legal action against Google after the completion of its acquisition of Fitbit while the regulator is still investigating the transaction, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chair Rod Sims told The Sydney Morning Herald. In mid-December 2020, the authority announced it won't accept a long-term behavioural undertaking offered by Google that sought to address competition concerns about its proposed acquisition of Fitbit. The authority's final decision on the deal should be published by 25 March 2021.
