Back then, the whole country has in severe crisis due to a rapid rise in cases at regular intervals whereas now, the recoveries have gone up by a reasonable level.
Overall, the tally of infections stands at 2,53,744. On the other hand, the death toll increased and climbed up to 4,354 with as many as four more deaths. The state health department, however, refrained from sharing the number of tests conducted during the course of the day.
The state now has 7,226 active cases including 56 patients who are on ventilators, the state health department said.
Responding to the criticism of not sharing the number of test figures conducted on a daily basis an official told PTI that it has lost relevance as the positive cases have been on the downward spiral.
"With the number of positive cases decreasing in Gujarat, the number of tests being conducted to detect the cases is also decreasing, as community screening is not required. So, the test figure is no longer relevant," he said.
OVERALL TALLY
As per the latest data shared, Ahmedabad reported 116 new cases, Vadodara 107, Surat 98, and Rajkot 84. Among other districts, Jamnagar recorded 17 new cases, Anand, Gandhinagar and Junagadh 16 each, Kutch and Mehsana 12 each, Bhavnagar 11, Amreli 10, etc. Out of four deaths, two were in Ahmedabad while one person died in Panchmahal and Surat each.
Talking more about the state of Ahmedabad following the 116 fresh cases, 111 were from the city whereas the remaining 5 in rural parts of the district. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 vaccines have begun being distributed to various parts of the nation.
