"The crowd's been amazing, Rohit is a world-class player and tried to bowl him my best ball. It would've been nice to go out for dinner with everyone, including my parents but there are bubble restrictions. It was like a Day 3 wicket yesterday, and there's a nice crack outside off-stump so I'm trying to aim at that. With 10 overs gone, India lost one wicket of Shubman Gill and now Rohit Sharma along with Cheteshwar Pujara are taking their time in the middle. Rohit is at 13* and Pujara 1*.
In a conundrum of whether to play or leave, Shubman Gill finally fell into Pat Cummins' trap and caught at first slip by Steve Smith. Cheteshwar Pujara is the new man in, who snicked the ball which wasn't carried to Smith. India need to be watchful here.
The first boundary comes out of Shubman Gill's willow as Mitchell Starc's 140 km/h delivery goes past the fence. Short of length ball, Gill got rid of the bounce and punched it away through the covers. A treat to eyes.
Rohit Sharma (26) and Shubman Gill (50) put on a confident 70-run partnership to get India off to a solid start in their first innings on Day 2 at the SCG. Chasing Australia’s 338, India lost their first wicket only in the 27th over. This was the longest time an opening partnership has been at the crease for India in an away Test in a decade.
