New Delhi, Jan 15 (UNI)The Nepalese Foreign Affairs Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on Friday called on the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
Both the leaders met at the Hyderabad House.
Mr Gyawali is in the national capital on his three day visit to India from January 14 to 16. He is also to co-chair the sixth India-Nepal joint commission meeting with Dr Jaishankar.
Mr Gaywali’s visit to Delhi gained significance in the backdrop of border row between the two nations last year when Nepal published a new geographical map, showing three Indian territories -- Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipulekh as the part of Nepal.
Objecting the Nepal claims on the tree territories, India termed it as ‘unilateral act’ and said that such artificial enlargement of territorial claims will not be accepted.
Earlier, India's Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had visited Nepal in November to reset the bilateral ties.
The bone of contention is the Kalapani-Limpiadhura-Lipulekh tri-junction between Nepal-India and China (Tibet). Located on the banks of the river Kali at an altitude of 3600m, the Kalapani territory lies at the eastern border of Uttarakhand in India and Nepal's Sudurpaschim Pradesh in the West.
There were some incidents of skirmish with Nepal border guarding police and Indian border population in the areas of north Bihar near Nepal border in recent past.
