The Centre started the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ on May 6 to help those stranded overseas due to the novel coronavirus pandemic reach their destinations via international repatriation flights.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, 13,912 repatriation flights were operated by the Air India Group under the Vande Bharat Mission till January 13, carrying over 18.64 lakh passengers. Of these, 6,953 were inbound flights carrying 11.25 lakh passengers and 6,959 were outbound flights with 7.38 lakh fliers.
The mission is currently in Phase 8 which will continue until March 28, 2021.
