Kia's affordable midsize sedan has a new name. Meet the new 2021 Kia K5.
The sedan is a touch longer and lower than its predecessor, with a sharp new exterior design.
LED signature lights highlight the new front and rear designs.
Under the hood, the automaker's 1.6-liter turbocharged engine is now standard equipment, replacing the old naturally aspirated 2.4-liter.
2021 also marks the first year that the K5/Optima is offered with optional all-wheel drive.
The K5's standard safety tech suite is impressive, but we think the automatic headlamps are a touch too sensitive.
Optional at upper trim levels is smart adaptive cruise control that works in stop-and-go traffic.
Overall, the K5 is one of the best blends of nimble performance, smart features and excellent value at this price.
I think the aggressive styling is more appealing than the sedan's more avant-garde cousin, the new Hyundai Sonata.
