NEW DELHI: Tesla CEO Elon Musk kept his words of making debut in India in 2021 by setting up its first office in Bengaluru.
Reacting to a news report on the luxury car brand establishing its centres in five states across the country, Musk tweeted "As promised".
This is the first reaction of the Tesla CEO ever since reports broke out of the company's much awaited India debut.
Ending all speculations, the carmaker registered a company named Tesla India Motors and Energy in Bengaluru on January 8. However, details of what it plans to do in the country remains elusive.

Last year, the world's richest man Elon Musk had indicated that Tesla would start selling its cars in India in 2021.
Union road and transport minister Nitin Gadkari had also said in December that Tesla will commence sales in India in 2021 and would also evaluate assembly or manufacturing based on the market response it receives.
According to reports, Tesla is also in touch with other state governments like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to establish its centres.
